1995 Ranger starts rough

I have a 1995 Ford Ranger XL 3 L V6 two-wheel drive initially my problems started with it not starting after I parked it for a few minutes. It would turn over but not fire. After it cooled down for a few hours I started it and drove a few blocks and then it started running rough and died and would not run. The. next day I started it drove it a few blocks and then it died. It would start a few hours later but I didn't take it anywhere. It wouldn’t start a second time until a few hours later. This went on until I replaced the fuel filter and put some injection cleaner in the gas tank. Also checked the fuel pressure, it's good. No check engine or any other light on.Now it starts and runs initially, although sometimes it sputters for 30 seconds or so, and then it’s smooth, but if I turn it off and start again, I have to floor it to get it to start and then play with s the accelerator. Once started, after 30 seconds or so, it usually runs smooth. I'm scared to take it anywhere. Any ideas.
