1995 Ranger RPM Problem

I have a 1995 Ranger 4x2 ext cab, 3.0 & 5-speed. Recently I've replaced most engine sensors: MAF, TPS, IAS and one other. My very rough idle/driveability issues have now been solved c- except for one annoying problem.

The truck drives normally, but when I shift gears the idle increases several hundred rpm. This happens between all gears. I have no tach in dash, but I race, so I know it's at least several hundred. If I were to keep the clutch in for 2-3 seconds, the rpm will always decrease down to idle.

I read codes P-1401 & P-1443. I doubt these would cause this problem. Even tho this is a 1995 model, it has the OBDII receptacle under the steering column.

Have not replaced throttle cable. There's a 'spot' when pushing the pedal to the floor, where it seems to stop, but if pushed a little harder, it will go down another inch or so. Maybe a different problem? If so, this is no big deal, but the rpm increase between evey gear (upshift/downshift) interferes with driveability.

I do most of the maintenance on my truck unless I'm pressed for time. I'll appreciate any assistance in solving this annoying problem. Other than this, things are great with this nice truck. Thanks, Terry

Oxygen sensors. Might want to look into that "spot" if it gets stuck in that spot the high rev won't be your only issue

My 2.3 had a similar issue in it revved really high due to a stuck or sticking point in the throttle body. I initially thought to replace the TB and did before learning about a specific TB cleaner on this site. The replacement TB did eliminate the sticking throttle plus had linkage the old one lacked. The PO took it off to attempt fixing the sticking issue. When I went to get the truck, he insisted I tow it. I did, half a mile down the road I added a return spring and drove the rest of the way. It's been a great DD and camping rig. I couldn't complain about the price either, free.
