my buddy at work has a jeep cherokee and hes been having problems with it lately, it will start up when the engine is cold but once it gets hot the engine will cut off on him when he is going down the road he has put on a new fuel filter, spark plug wires, dist. cap, and a rotor but it is still doing it. we think that it is the fuel pump but we are not sure

any input would be nice hes been having alot of trouble with it and hes ready for it to be drivable again because that is the only car he has

crank sensor problems are very common on these trucks. It's cheap and easy to change.

^^correct^^/ It's hard to find the problems on those since they rarely have any, but that one is common.

Mine has crank sensor issues, Just on start up, which is where most of them occur, Also check the main ground on the back of the head, Fuel pump is easy to change on them though. Mine has had a few problems, mostly wiring related. But its getting traded for a Ranger next week

yeah i have a 91 laredo and I put a new fuel pump in but it pretty much went out all the way. If you can check the sensors with a digital multimeter and spray carb cleaner around intake to find vacuum leaks but be careful cause the exaust is on the same side. For tons of troubleshooting info hit up the naxja.org website. Good luck

my 95 did the samething and a new fuel pump fixed it

Does sound more like a fuel pump than the CPS. The CPS isn't expensive, but it can be a pain, unless you have gorilla length arms and 10 year old girl hands.

Check fuel pressure with a gauge first, before throwing parts at it. When cold it should be about 31 psi or better, and check it as it warms.

Did I mention check the fuel pressure with a gauge first?
