1995 4.0L Interior Lights Not Working

1995 Ranger 4.0L Engine. All instrument panel lights, dome light, glove box lights, a/c heat control lights do not work. Owner's manual says fuse #27 in the fuse box at driver's side panel controls those lights. Not getting fire to fuse 27. Any suggestions of what to do? Thanks!!

Never had this problem before but sounds like you have a bad connection, short circuit, or some electrical gremlin running loose. Pull out a voltmeter and start testing wires.

check your grounds <--- do weird things when they dont connect good...

I have somewhat found the problem. Local dealer/service center let me view an electrical service manual for that model. Traced problem to the instrument illumination dimming module. Unplugged it, replugged it and they all work fine! Just a bad connection. Its been sitting up for 4 years, so not surprising.

Now my dome light will work with the switch in the dimming module only if I pull the battery saver relay and jumper wire it. Still will not work with the door open/close switch. I have trace that to the Generic Electronic Module. I'll test it and the connections tomorrow.

Got to the GEM and found one plug not plugged in. I fixed that and all kinds of stuff went to working. The windshield wipers have never worked since we've had the truck (10 years) and they now work since I plugged that in. I feel safe in saying that almost everything on the truck works now.
