A little new to rangers.

2.3L, 5 speed, 2wd.

Truck was running great.

Then I bogged it down a little in forth, it shook, I downshifted to 2nd. No backfire. The exhaust sounds got louder and now it has no power and feels like it is missing at low rpm. occasional "popping" sounds from exhaust.

Runs OK, but not totally normal at high rpm.

Idles perfectly.

No check engine light came on.

any ideas?

Clogged cat? ICM? not sure how to check codes and don't know where to start with this.

Thanks in advance.

Adam

Timing belt may have slipped a tooth (is my best guess).

You'll have to take the timing cover and the harmonic balancer off in order to see the marks on the sprockets to make sure they line up correctly.
