I am looking at a 1994 4wd 4.0, 5 speed, the owner said the the mechanic just put a clutch in it and said that the front suspension housing is cracked. I don't know what the suspension housing is or how tough it is to fix it......any feedback would be great

depends if its a small crack someone might be able to weld it up for now, if it doesn't leak diff fluid or grease im not even sure if it would hurt anything unless you are doing serious off roading.... if not id buy on from a j/y it would be a pretty big job but do able.

Is the truck lifted? If so, maybe it's busted from a drop-plate extension bracket, which more often that not can be welded up.

If not, then I couldn't really guess other than that he's referring to something about the differential housing.

Replacing it isn't hard, but is time-consuming. Might be easiest to just get a 'new' assembly from a junkyard and swap that in (make sure it has the same gear ratio as your rear axle, or swap both axles together).
