I currently have a 1994 Ford Ranger with a 5spd manual 2.3l i4 engine and i was wondering if anyone knew if a 1997 Ford Ranger 5spd manual 2.3l i4 transmission would work with a 1994 engine? So basically will a 1997 manual trans work with a 1994 engine?
Thanks,
Mike

the transmission will bolt to the engine and has the same slave cylinder and the driveshaft, but the speedo cable won't bolt in unless you swap tail housings.

the problem is the '97 transmission does not have a provision to insert the speedo cable into, with some parts swapping from the '94 tranny it can be done, if you drop both tranny's off at a tranny shop and tell them what you need they should be able to swap the tail housings for you.
