I recently was given a 2002 Ford Escape with a 3.0 V6, and I would like to put the V6 in my 1994 Ranger that currently has a 2.3 with a 5 speed. My Ranger has been out of commission for a year now due to college. When I did drive it, I remember flooring it everywhere I went because it was so slow and pathetic. I read that the V6 I got has more than double the horsepower and about twice the torque. Has anyone done this before? If so, how difficult will it be? Is the 3.0 that comes stock in the Ranger the same as the 3.0 that's in the Escape? Any advice or info would definitely help, thanks.

Short answer: If you have to ask, don't do it.

Long answer: A lot. New motor mounts, Ecu/wiring, Exhaust ect. If the trans bolt pattern is the same as the 2.3 duratech then just find a 02 (?) and up trany. Otherwise you'll need to make a adapter plate. Afaik this hasn't been done before so its completely undocumented, unlike a 5.0 swap which has been done by more people than you can shake a stick at.
Are you planing on doing this over Christmas break?
