So i found a pair of blue ranger bucket seats with the driver side i believe having a center console attatched so it may be a 60/40 bench. But anyways i was curious how easy or hard would it be to install these into my 1983 ranger which has a standard cab. Anyone try to attempt something like this? here's a picture of them. http://corvallis.craigslist.org/pts/1503160883.html

at most you should only need to swap seat tracks, I think. There is an article about seats in the library. You won't be able to recline them obviously, but they should fit.

i suppose i should check with the guy to see if he has the tracks....if not is it hard to safely secure them?

you don't care about the tracks from the donor. You need to put the tracks that are currently on your truck on the new seats. the X-cab tracks and floor mounts are different from a standard cab, but the holes on the bottom of the seat frame are the same.

And yeah, that's a blue 60/40 split bench.

x2, you can put in any seats you want to. I wouldn't be surprised if the '83 tracks bolted on to the seat, but I wouldn't expect the '93 tracks to have the right mounting locations for the '83.

I have bucket seats that were in a '60s Mustang in my '88. But they were not the OEM seats. I used the Ranger's tracks and made adapter plates out of 3/32" steel to mount between the tracks and the seat since the holes did not line up at all. Takes some measuring, but definitely do-able.

sweeeeet so this should be maybe a little easier then i expected...well just getting the old seat out and the tracks re-mounted to the new seats. Thanks for the advice guys appriciate it!

if you have a bench seat you will need new tracks from a '83-92 regular cab, the dimples should already be in your floor for the seat tracks, you just need to drill them out, I would suggest fender washers on both sides of the sheet metal though, one of the holes I drilled through on mine cracked and now I have a 4" crack in my floorboard...
