1993 LIGHTNING LAST DAY, DATE OF PRODUCTION?

That’s going to be difficult to find out. I would imagine 1993 model year trucks were built well in 1994. However, the last one built “in 1993” would have been a just a few days before Christmas. Most American manufacturing plants, especially automotive plants shut down production for a 1-2 week period around Christmas and New Year holidays. This gives most employees holiday time off and maintenance crews get time to do in-depth maintenance, major repairs and improvement projects. The same thing often happens around 4th of July in the summer.

There were 5276 Lightnings made for the 1993 model year. Number 5271 was built on 7/22/93… so within a day or so of that.

Wow. That’s specific. Most likely within hours of that.

And, my wild guess was obviously waaaayyyy off the mark.

Generally, 1993 year models would actually start being assembled in the fall of 1992. In the fall of 1993 is when the 1994 models would start being built.

While that's the typical practice, a new model being introduced or a major facelift of an existing model can create exceptions.
