I picked a a T5 transmission Friday. When I was at the salvage yard it was hard to see the ID plate because of the rust but I knew that the Ford T5 housing was different from the GM so I thought... Well the next morning I took a wire brush to the ID plate and checked the code and it is from a 1993 Camaro or Firebird.:icon_confused: I did some research and found out this is when they started using the WC T5 and the Ford housing. So now on to the question.

Can you and has anyone used a GM T5 Trans on a 2.3 Lima?

I measured the input shaft and it is 7 3/16" and has 26 splines.

Ford did use the T5 in the 2.3l Lima Mustangs so you could find a bell housing that would fit, but I think the input shaft was longer for 4cyl engines, and I would assume those GM cars had V8s, so when you put on the Lima bell housing input shaft may be too short.

But just guessing

Good read here for the T5: http://www.moderndriveline.com/Technical_Bits/t5_history.htm

I have read just about every article on the T5. He number on the one I picked up 1352-210. When you reference the number it says GM 1993 MY-F Car 3.4L V6 WC. I read that article again and I really did not find any new information. Thank you for the response.
