1993 4.0 and 3.0 auto the same?

I have a 1993 automatic transmission from behind a 4.0

A guy I used to work with has a '93 with a 3.0 and needs a transmssion.

So, will the auto from a 4.0 swap onto his 3.0?

No, different bellhousing. That said, I -think- the A4LD's is removable?

Thanks. I was afraid of a different bellhousing.

The bell is removable, and I told my friend that it may be able to be swapped.

A couple concerns with swapping his 3.0 bell to my 4.0 transmission would be:

Are the input shafts the same length, diameter, and spline count?

Will my 4.0 converter work with his 3.0 flexplate?
