I have a small leak in the top corner of my windshield.

Before calling the glass shop and paying 250+ for new glass I would like to re seal the edges if possible.

First how do you remove the windshield metal trim that's on the outside surrounding the windshield?

Second, what is the best sealant to use?

If I remember, at least on a 89 BII, its held on by metal clips and just pulls/prys off. When it rains i get a wet spot about five inches long and two inches wide on the front of the passenger side headliner. The spot never gets any bigger, and always dries out in a day. I've popped the trim and siliconed a foot and a half each way from that corner around the glass. It didn't fix the problem. I siliconed my roof rack screws, and it doesn't get as wet but still noticabley soggy. Also tried siliconing the gutters around the whole cab. Good luck!

That shit is frustrating! I finally got mine slowed down after caulking my fender hood seams and cleaning out my cowl drain. Still leaks a little :( probably the freakin wind shield! I'll tackle that next.

Where is that dang cowl drain anyhow?
Im sure mines clogged too.

Inside of the engine compartment on the back wall two silver plates one on the drivers side and one in the middle. Four small screws with sticky crap on them . I had to pry them off. And I had a mound of what looked like mulch on the drivers side where the drain is. It drains from left to the right side. clean that out and then get the water hose and flush it out.

89-92 Rangers were not as bad as 83-88 Rangers and Bronco IIs for accumulating crap in the cowl. The older ones had slots instead of holes which naturally let more in to get stuck in there.

My cowl looks clean, hose water was running right out.

Now about those metal sheilds around the windshield.
I remember trying to pull these off years ago on another trucks.
I bent them and never got them back on properly.

Is there a trick to it? Maybe a thin piece of plastic to jimmy under it?

Not sure, but when you find one let me know cause I gotta do that next! I saw make on on four wheelin for a bronco though. Looked pretty easy.
