My tach when running, jumps to between 3000-4000 rpm when idling and going down the road.

Can I just swap out the tachs and it work.

Need help with this

Hi,... I just posted a Q similair to this... and yes I did a swap, seems to be working better now... Have you done this swap before? it is fairly easy, however, a pain in the ass to finally get to the cluster, (pulling the dash plates off and stuff) Do you have a Pick-A-Part wrecker near you? if so, it gives great practice at getting the replacement one off the old truck before you can get into your dash.

Be aware that the instrument clusters from 93-94, while virtually identical in appearance, are wired differently from a 92 and previous.

Hi Hawk, Wired different in what ways? for this is what I have done is swapped 94 into 92. what will be the probs for all things seem to be working good so far. thanks

Ford made a wiring change between the 92 and 93 model years. The pinouts on the instrument cluster connectors have numerous differences. It's possible that your 92 is late in the model year and the change was already implemented.

If it's working, you're home free.
