i got a 92 ranger with a 3.0 5spd 2x4 just got the truck from my buddy he did the engine swap and had no clue what he was doing and when i got it from him he said he replace the ignition module and that was it, i found one harness connector that was not fully plugged in and one ground that was not hooked up but the problem is i have no spark and dont think the injectors are firing.

i had reset the timing on it but setting it to tdc on the crank by no 1 plug up and set the dizzy to no 1 but no fire

would like to get this truck running so i can use it or sell it

any thing helps please

No fuel or spark (it IS cranking over, though, right)? It sounds like a myriad of problems. Is the fuel pump at least priming? If he swapped a 3.0 for a same year 3.0, everything should be wired up exactly the same. I would go through and check all of his connectors. If it's at TDC, how much are you advancing the timing after that?

Even at TDC, a motor's timing should still be advanced somewhere in the range of 7 to 10 dergees. I can check my Hayes manual when I get home later.

If you have a multimeter or a test light, check to see if the injectors are spiking/lighting up while you are cranking the motor. You could also take off the ignition wires at the spark plug, and check to see if there is voltage there. If there isn't anything, go further back to the distributor, and check the cap & the main ignition wire for current. If you unplug the spark plugs, crank the motor, and can smell fuel, then you're good (and your problem will be either a timing issue, a lack of current for the spark, or many more (or incorrectly plugged) pigtails. If you cannot get any of the above, I would go back, and redo every connection and follow a wiring diagram.

It's a pain, but hey, it wasn't done right the first time.

Check your connections.
