This is my first pickup truck. I got this truck really cheap as a project for the weekend. I've had the truck for about 3 month now and I'm having fun.

Truck info:

1992 2.9 V6 XLT

105k miles

Stock everything. Bought it from an older guy who's father was the orginal owner.

Week 1:

Had Trans leak

Rear brake lines were rusted out

need new valve cover gaskets

needs paint on roof.

cap needs to be tossed.

Photo from the craigslist post I bought he truck from:

Took the truck home with just front brake. First thing I did was take the bed cap off and the steps on the side.

Didnt like the color of the roof on the truck when I bought it so I picked up some cans off paint and a grind wheel brush thing. I suck at painting. The goal at this point was just to cover metal.

This is what the truck looks like today. This photo was taken at Bundy hill offroad park. My trucks first time seeing dirt! I've added some 31 ones on it with stock lift. Only rubbed a few times. They are All-terrains I aired them now while I was there. I also was playing with some plasti-dip on the rims. Cover up some of the rust.

Looks good man. Keep up the good work you'll be runnin 35's in no time!lol

Cool first truck! I had a 1991 3.0 2wd that I drove for 15 years. Your odometer is less than 1/3 of where mine was when I killed it :bawling:. Enjoy it and have fun!

Not bad! It's a good 1st truck. I'm sure it'll teach you a few things. Welcome!

hub fail

Had my cousin who said he knew what he was doing put my new manual hubs on.. yeah my tip. cousins don't know what they are doing. Just do it yourself.

Attached photos of some of the damage. There was metal shards everywhere.

Need new brake calipers, pads, rotors, bearings, hubs, spindle nuts, and spindle. Yeah not cool. Lesson learned.

i have that same truck.......thought it was cool.....got on therangerstation......spent every dollar i ever made upgrading hahahaha! have fun,we will show you how to make it killer if your ready to spend like a fat man at a stripper bar!

Haha. I've been spending. Thanks. Had a bit on an oil leak it took me a minute to figure out where it was coming from.

A little bit of an update here.

I put on the bushwacker cutout flares to chop off some body rust... Makes my 30s look small now. Next on the list is to lift the truck. :)

Thing got pushed back due to an oil leak. Scrubbed down the whole engine over 3 day. She was near spotless as good as you can will out pulling the motor. Found the oil leak. Rust hole on the oil pan. I decided to go the JB weld route for now. Being I'm not ready to pull the motor yet.

Then I sanded down the rest of the pan I could reach and painted it with some engine enamel DE 1615 aluminum color which looked like it was the same color as the JB weld. Was going to do black but I figured grey would help me find oil leaks in the future.

The truck today.

I've been thinking about putting a 4inch suspension lift and 35s. Not sure on what wheels yet. I would like them to sit out further and the wheels I have now are just painted rust. Hah.

Sanding down and painting the rocker panels with rustoleum bed liner. Getting ready for some michigan winter fun. I'll bondo that hole in the cab corner later.

Here's how the truck looks last week.

Hauling some pallets. (Free fire wood from work. :) )

Order me the Tuff County 4" EZ performance or what ever it's called. Did the single piece drive shaft swap today.

Ended up just taking out the cross member holding the old one in because it was all rusted out. I will probably put something else in it's place after while. Before I do any big riding.

I like the color on that one-piece. It should really pop without being ricer-flashy...
