Have a 91 ford ranger four cylinder/ manual trans. Will need engine replacement soon. I am apt to just replace it stock but is there amy easy engine swaps? Don't need a 400 hp turbo mod just dependability.

With a 4 cylinder the only easy swap is like for like... and that kinda limits you to '89-94 Rangers or I think '91-93 Mustangs (if it doesn't have a distributor in those years, you're good to go). The 4 cylinder transmission won't bolt to a V6, but if you find a manual trans 4.0L Ranger or Explorer it shouldn't be too hard of a swap... would almost take a donor truck though... there's a lot of little stuff here and there...
If you're adventurous you can do a turbo swap but that takes some planning and finding some parts that are getting rare anymore, or expensive...
