My 1990 Ranger with the 4.0L V6 Automatic 2X4 is idling smooth and no issues what so ever and when I drive its fine but when I drive to work which is 25 miles from my house and i am down the block from my work the RPMs jump from 1500 to 2000 and back down and throws its fit for a second or 2 and thats it and the transmission grinds like the torque converter is locking up acting like its trying to go into a lower gear, now it did this before and i replaced the TPS sensor and it was just fine after that but after yesterday i replaced it again with a autozone one. My fried who was the service manager the Ford dealer said a TPS can cause weird issues like that, anyway when i was on break i looked at the Vac tree and two of the rubber stoppers were cracked and half way off so i replaced those and ran fine going home(like it did when i replaced the TPS) so what can it be? Does my Ranger have a mind of its own and like to piss me off? it has a new engine and transmission so everything should be fine.
