the starter engages. therefore I will have to check the neutral switch. where on the tranny is this located?

it is an Manual. does it have a neutral switch?
so would u recommend replacing the switch?You have a Manual transmission so it is on the clutch pedal push rod under the dash

Ok so put the positive meter lead on one and then type negative lead to ground and turn the key?Then I would pull the connector on the clutch switch and test its wires.
In 1990 there should be two Pink wires, one is from the ignition switch(12v in START) and the other goes to the starter relay "S" wire, which would be a Red wire with light blue stripe at the relay end
The clutch switch connects these two pink wires together when clutch pedal is down all the way
