I recently grabbed up a nice 60/40 bucket set from a '99 Ranger. After I cleaned them up and was about to swap the seat rails, I noticed that I couldn't remove them from the rails... I was pretty disappointed, because these seats were exactly what I wanted. I've searched high and low, and I haven't found any reliable information to what seats will bolt directly up to my truck (everything I found was for newer trucks), or what seats I can swap rails with.

I've installed seats from a '93 Explorer by swapping rails, but one turned out to be broken. I'm not too fond of this route since I want a 60/40 set, but I'm willing to acquiesce if I need to.

So what will fit? And what can I make fit with minimal modification?

There is a Tech Article on these seats that, from what I read, says they will fit...you may need to tap out some holes...depending on the year of your Ranger...

Maybe not for your year though...unless you want to drill new holes...but sometimes the seat rails don't match the floor pans...
Here is the link to yhe article...maybe give you ideas about other seats...

Yes, the rails on my 1999 seats aren't even close to matching the floor pan. Fabrication would be necessary to even get them close to fitting. I remember that they are from a standard cab, so I maybe I'm an idiot because now it sounds like that could make a difference.

And I have seen an article similar to that posted on another forum, but I'm just really REALLY confused at this point what will actually work since I've now gone through two pairs of replacement seats that don't. I'll try again, third time is probably a charm.

Remember also seats from the same era Explorer will fit the extended cab...the rails on my 1988 were from a 1993 Explorer...perfect fit...as long as extended cab.

It can be confusing...but I would be very careful about doing anything other than replacement with exact fit...

Did you check LMC for rails by any chance? I can't remember if I checked before...

I went through it just now but could not see brackets, mounts or such stuff...so maybe a fab project...
