1989 Ranger XLT mystery motor


You can narrow down what year it came from...does it have a distributor at the back or a set of coil packs that connect to the spark plug?

The image you posted (first one) was quite blurry and I couldn't see anything other than the intake (which is purely 3.0).

And I can also say that I nearly swapped a 92 3.0 but decided against it...for various reasons...mainly the cost to replace parts that I might break or otherwise mangle during the swap...

It happens all the time...one motor gets worn out or the owner gets worn out trying to keep fixing it...or, in the case of a wonky 2.3...gets worn out waiting to shift gears...that would be me about now...
