I believe you can pull blink codes. I involves using a jumper wire in a connector but it has been so long since I've had to worry about that kind of thing I forget the details and what years you could use it. One of the members that have more recent experience your year range would have to expound on it.
I've moved the thread to the 2.9 Sub forum for continuity and so if others run across a similar issue with their 2.9s, they'll be able to easily find it.

I bought this and it makes it much eaiser and foolproof to pull codes, espicially if youre new to it.
