hey, im new to the site. but i got a '89 ford ranger extended cab prerunner. i just got it last week and like all prerunners it has a "kill all" switch. so i decided to test it, and guess what. it didnt work...

so what is it supposed to be connected to? :icon_confused:

it looks like its grounded. and i checked it, there isnt any hot wires going to it.

also, how often do u gotta change the tranny lube? its a stick shift. i noticed there isnt a tranny cooler or a dipstick. it has 80w gear lube in it

Run the killswitch to the main ign wire. When you flip the switch it should deadhead the power and kill it, but then again I'm not an electrical specialist so you might wanna get some more opinions. As for the tranny lube, I would change it every 50K, but I just like having fresh fluid in at all times, but I think it doesn't require a change until 90K. Just keep using the same 80W gear oil.

well, i would. but the way my truck is wired that would only kill the engine. i need a switch that will kill everything.

lol, my radio works without me needinig the keys for the truck.

no... they know less than i do... all my wiring has been changed, not even close to stock. haha

posting this in the heating/ac section is definitely the right place to ask...

im new... what do u expect???

also. how do you recharge an a/c on an '89 ranger?
shuld i jus go to mex and get the r-12? or convert it to the 134a?

R12 is impossible to find anywhere even in Mexico, I've tried. You should probably just get R134A, it would pay off in the long run. Just use a recovery/recharge tank system and pull out all the old R12. Then once you have the system evacuated you can pump the system with R134A once you do a conversion or R12 if you can find some.

ill prolly hav my neighbor help me put 134a in there. it jus seems easier than gettin shot in mex. lol

Yeah I hear you man. Mexico is only a 2 hour drive from Tucson... makes you wonder.
