when you open the rear hatch you find weatherstripping and also 4 small rubber bumpers of dampeners? 2 on each side, 2 push into body 2 mounted with a single Phillips screw.

I can not find them either to buy or even find the part numbers. LMC and that bunch all say no such animal BUT I'm looking right at them.

Anyone know anything about these guys?

Keith

You will probably only find a universal set like Dorman 45393. They may have some other assortments, I didn't look.

Speaking of the rear hatch, if you are having rattling problems, one thing that helps is to replace the plastic bushings around the latch pins on each side. If you go to the plumbing store and buy a short piece of 1/2 PEX plastic tubing, you can cut it to length, and slit it down the side and spread it open and install it over the metal pins like the factory had them. Makes a world of difference on how tight the latch pins hold the hatch. You can do the same thing for the doors if they are missing there also.

thanks, I don't see how a generic would do the job, maybe for the 2 that push in but the other 2 mount via phillips screw.

Did all years strikers have the plastic bushings?

My '85 only has metal pins all the way around on the doors and rear hatch.

Every Ford vehicle I have owned has had plastic around the striker pins. Striker pin looks like the picture below.

If you want your doors and hatch to close tight, you need that bushing in there. Some people replace the whole striker assembly, but for me, just replacing the plastic with a piece of PEX is just too easy and it lasts and doesn't fall off.

great picture, not talking about stricker pins, they re fine.

If I knew how I'd add a picture of the "bumpers"

here is a picture of I'm calling rubber bumpers, 1 above the pin one below the pin, same on both sides.

Sorry, when I mentioned the striker plastic bushings I was replying to ford4wd08. I should have quoted him in my response.

That being said, I see in the picture you attached (below also) that indeed your plastic bushing is missing on the striker pin in the picture. It will make the hatch close tighter if you put the bushing on it.

I agree that everyone I have had had the one like in your picture, but my '85 has never had them as far as I can tell.

All 4 are not present if it had them, and the doors shut just fine. I believe the plastic was added to them in the late '80s.

any idea about my question??

I can't figure what those pieces you want are for? They look more like a guide of some sort. Do they keep the tailgate from smashing the taillight lense if you are wheeling over rough ground?

You want to replace them just to be replacing them or do you have a problem they are causing?
