1989 extended cab, looking for rubber coupler between transmission & drive shaft

By any chance did you succeed in finding one? I have a 1989 Ford ranger that has a coupler that is cracked and I'd like to replace it. What did you end up doing? Thanks!
No, I haven't. The local transmission shop couldn't find one either. if you remove the coupler, the bolt holes line up between the trannie and drive shaft. Putting a piece of thick rubber between the two and bolting them together may work although I haven't tried it. The rubber would allow just a tad bit of flex as needed. Probably need lock nuts on the bolts. I am still driving on the original coupler, but it is definitely time to do something about it. Thanks for the reminder!

they are also called a guibo, if you can;t find it under coupler (i have never heard it called a coupler on a driveshaft).

but rockauto would be my choice too

your picture looks just like the guibo on my 83 bmw 318, and on previous bmws i have owned from 79-91.

you can also buy aluminum replacement versions from a number of online shops. measure yours from hole to hole centers and thats how you figure out which size to buy

Torque Solution Solid Billet Driveshaft Flex Disc (Guibo): BMW (96mm) w/ 12mm Bolts

i have been through trying to find the right one when i swapped a 4 cylinder bmw to a 6 cylinder and when we swapped from one 6 cylinder auto to another 6 cylinder with 5 speed.

i just found this link too:

Take a look at this, it looks like we have a winner?

just to close this out in case you didn't see the update in the other thread:

might also try that part number (GA000-094 ) at any brick mortar/online for interchange.

I've been searching everywhere for that part with absolutely no luck, not even "out of stock" page. I've emailed great lakes about the part and hopefully they have it. PowerTrain has a catalog for guibos and the closest in measurements is GAH04-003. But like GA000-094 I can't find it anywhere. I've emailed PowerTrain about GAH04-003. EDIT: Actually I have found GAH04-003

Here are some, only difference is they're 10mm instead of 12. Closest I can find after countless hours looking.

that dorman is listed on oreilly @ $104 - special order... thankfully special order is like 1 extra day is all and over $50 they send directly to your house free ship.

Thank you folks for your help. I may have to put this on the Christmas goody list....

I chopped the flange off and went to a weld on yoke for 1310 joint and a new slip yoke for less than the chunk of rubber cost. I got everything to do it through Denny's Driveshafts if I remember right.

I found my receipt for a driveshaft for my '48... it was way less than the 500 someone mentioned in one of these guibo threads, it was $146.79 .... 140 for the work $6.79 for the tax man....

most driveshafts are 400-500 new. the last two i had built with parts i brought were still 360 labor and balancing.

but they needed to be perfect for a high performance 150 mph application.

the driveshafts on my bronco and ranger i made in the garage.
