I have a 1989 Ranger 2.3 ltr 5Sp Reg. Cab, Reg. Box..... looking to convert it to 4wd......I have a idea what I need but not sure of the complete donor trucks I can use....can anyone give me an idea of what all trucks I can use seeing their getting harder to find. Lots of sentinmental value in this little truck, its a strong runner and I like to beef it up some. I want to keep the 2.3 that's in it as well and manual trans.
Thanks for any info you can give...:icon_cheers:

Basically any 83-97 truck with the same cab and bed configuration. The 93-97 trucks will have the stronger front ends just about guaranteed, while the 95-97 have the better brakes as well.

Then basically just swap frames. It'd be real easy to clean up the donor frame too while you're at it.

keepin all my orig gear cept the stuff I need, so what trans transfercase combo's can I use and front end...is it all limted to what has 2.3 or any others fit?

Did you ever do the conversion? I'm looking at doing the same thing and want to know how others managed

The only combo that doesn't seem to be well documented to me is using an EARLY Ranger front driveshaft to mate with a FM146 or M5OD and 1350m transfer case.

Nice thread revival....
