1988 Ranger starting problem

A few weeks ago the acc position quit working. Now the engine will start but die when I let go of the key. It may do this once or 10 times. If I use the Astro Start it fires up and runs fine everytime. I'm thinking ignition switch but not positive. The Haynes manual has no information on replacing the switch. Any ideas?
