Give him time. He’ll put a plow on it.

So.... For those asking whats up with the mushroom clouds.....

I present you with the build specs for what @snoranger has dubbed the "2.9 Trinity"

Pistons showed up! and from what I can tell, they fit PERFECTLY.

Just in case someone goes looking for another set... Ford part # DR3Z-6108-A, even though the piston tops are etched "DR3V-6110-AA"

Set of pistons came out of a 2013 Shelby GT500 Mustang with the 5.8l Trinity engine. Engine detonated with 2,000 miles on it due to what looks like a wiring or injector fault. eBay find. Heh.

Their loss, my gain. Long story short, they work in a 2.9l.

Plan of attack is to use them as-is. I did think about changing rings, but..... Nahhhh..... This is a junkyard build.

Stats on the 2.9 Trinity:

SOMEBODY PLEASE CHECK MY MATH!!!

Bore: 3.681
Stroke: 2.835
Rod: 5.400
Compression Height: 1.220
Piston Dish: 10cc
Head Gasket: 0.042
Estimated chamber: 42cc
Deck Height: 8.084

548 gram 5.8l trinity pistons with pin and clips installed

Seems that 302 forged H beam connecting rods (I'll double check these post-machining) fit if shaved 0.002 side to side, and 0.003 off the back of the bearings

Yeilds a 1.9:1 rod ratio on a 1.3:1 bore/stroke ratio with a 7,000-8,000 rpm redline.

Idk about yall, but I'd drive the **** out of that from stats alone...

Need to double check head volumes post-polishing, but compression should be 8.35-8.6:1.

Since I managed to track down full forged internals, I may splurge for once in my cheap-assed life and pick up the T70 twin scroll thats on my Amazon wish list. Planning on setting the wastegate to 21 psi after a dyno run or 10.

As much as I DO NOT like online turbo calculators.... I messed around with the one at not2fast just for kicks. I stayed relatively conservative with my inputs.

BUT

At 7000 RPM redline with full 21psi manifold pressure:

Good enough for me.

Keeping in mind that online calculators are usually inaccurate, at 7,000 RPM and 21psi, this is what it came up with...

If I wind up with HALF of that, I'll be running through the streets nude in celebration.

If its within +/- 20% as it claims to be, I will kiss each and every one of you on the mouth.

Yes, even Will.

Hopefully I'm correct on all above factors...

If not? Well, the trinity name will hold true when it turns into a mushroom cloud.

WOW! I hope you get to see those numbers on the dyno, and that it stays together. Impressive will be an understatement. Looking forward to the video.

I think this is great. Did you add me to your will?

Have to look at the numbers. Not today.

I think I'm going to start a poll when I get ready for the dyno run on what breaks first. 7.5 diff, frame, or transmission...

I vote frame because of age and salt.
