I just bought a ford ranger 2.9 liter. The truck seems to be missfiring, it idles fine and runs fine when im at a constant rpm, but when i accelerate it seems to miss fire. Does anyone know anything that it could be?

ok will do..
some people were saying it could be a head gasket how would i know if it was?

white exhuast smoke after it warms up, might smell like coolant too
"snot" under the oil filler cap after running for a long time
milky oil on dipstick and the oil in the pan when you drain it you can tell
sudsy oil
low compression on one or more cylinders (20% of the compression of the other cylinders or more)

if you change out the plugs just do a quick compression test and it will tell you alot about whats goin on.

could be ignition module too or spark related
