you do realize that if you want to eventually use an aussie or lockrite that you need an open carrier right? the lsd carrier won't work for a lunchbox locker.

if you want to use a lsd then... good stuff. go for it.

yeah i know, i have an open carrier from the drum 8.8 that i bought from a fellow TRS'er. i also have 2 extra 373 R&P's, plus i already have an 8.8 31 spline aussie. if i get this one, i'll also have an extra set of 31 spline axleshafts

i want this for the disc brakes and it's already geared to match my front

i heard from the guy abou the axle, he hasnt been able to send pics yet. he said he'd try to send them today. i want to get it this weekend if i can so i can install it while i have the car jacked up and the leaf springs off.

got my new coil insulators

not what was pictured, but they should work. you got yours 4.0?

got the pics of the axle too:

trying to iron out details, but it looks pretty good from the pics he sent. hope i can arrange to get it saturday AM.

picking up the 8.8 tomorrow sometime. ripping out the 7.5 POS after work, anyone want a 373 l/s 7.5??? i'll sell it for $10

PC220007.jpg

bye bye 7.5, you were a good axle

damn bolt broke on the back side of the spring hanger. i didnt want a big leaf spring in my garage and we're going to the scrapper tomorrow, so i cut that bitch off. just gotta figure out how i'm gonna get the bolt out.

still havent heard back from the 8.8 guy, i hope i'm still getting this thing lol

^I did the same thing. Had to cut upward with a sawzall.

And you can get a lunchbox for a L/S carrier. Railman had one in his old axle which is now under my trailer. Yes my trailer has a locker.

i've already got an aussie and an 8.8 open carrier, i'll install it eventually. i just wanna get the 8.8 under the truck for now.

went to the scrapper today, got $60, so the axle only cost me $90. here she is!

diff fluid was probably factory, it was NASTY. it's draining right now. i'm gonna change it, drive it around for a week, then change it again.

gotta find a new brake line
PC220005.jpg

thought the calipers were toast, but i cleaned them out and i think they should be fine. i'll still probably replace them down the road, same with the rotors. the pads are all i'm getting for now.

i'm ripping out the e brake pads and backing plates as well. i'll just leave a wheel chock in the car if i need it lol

i had purchased all new brake hardware, wheel cylinders, etc. to rebuild the drum 8.8 i first bought. so i took all that back to autozone and got new pads and a new brake line. i still got $11.xx in store credit too.

just need to find some u-bolts

U-bolts you'll have to order probably. I had to.
Remember the explorer 8.8 has a 3.25" axle tube. (I think) lol

And for what it's worth; the explorer disc brakes will bolt on the drum brake axles... I'm using a 92 axle with 97 brakes (backing plates out)

yep, 3.25" inside diameter.....and i agree, i'll have to order them from somewhere. i think i'm gonna email dan @ ruff stuff and see what he can do.

autozone has some, but they're only 9" long. the axle tube is 3.25", so that leaves 5.75" for the spring perch and leaf and i'm probably gonna need a block. no worky.

are they factory u bolts rangerboy?
