1988 BII Build


i wanted to make sure i wasnt gonna have any clearance issues with the headers, so i mocked everything up this morning just to be sure. and yeah, i still gotta paint the other cylinder head........i hope my engine stand can hold all this

damn, it has been a while since i've updated. i just started a new job at autozone (of course, now that i have almost all the parts i need) and i'm trying to save up for my lift and tires, i think it's gonna be a while.....so far, i got the cheap "belltech 6400" look-a-likes from $21 with my discount. i've also got the engine all put together, as soon as i can get a day off, i'm gonna throw it back in the b2.


i dont know if anyone still checks this build thread, but i'm just wondering, is it possible to use 2" drop brackets with 3" coils? i know you can use the stock drop brackets with 1.5-2" coils, so i was thinking it may work the same way.
 
I bought the real belltech shackles for $55 from summit.

x2 on the tires part for me, going be awhile till I get them.

i dont see any difference in the 2 shackles, it's steel, everything looks to be welded nicely, only difference could be the quality of the bushings inside them. if something happens, i'll just return them since i work there.


i went to NTB today and got a quote on 31x10.50 goodyear wrangler mtr's, they wanted $1060 to mount/balance, (also, $23 a tire for lifetime mounting/balancing), i said NEVERMIND, plus there wasnt a mileage warranty, so i'm gonna search elsewhere.

yeah, got the other head painted, i'll go take a pic and post it, it's lookin good
 
Id rather get a kick in the teeth then pay that much.
 
well, i REALLY hate walmart and i try not to shop there, but they have 31x10.5 goodyear wranglers for $135 a piece with free mounting/balancing and lifetime rotation/balancing for free if you buy before 9/30. i talked to a guy yesterday at work and he said he had some wranglers that lasted him 3 years and they were the quietest tire he's ever had on the road.

got an 8.8 rearend and some exploder leafs today, $180 for all of it. the 8.8 has 3.73's too, so i dont have to regear to throw it under the b2, although after i lift it, that'll be the next purchase.

here's what i'm thinking, i have a 2000 explorer 2wd for a DD, it of course has an 8.8 as well with 3.73 gears, but it has a limited slip. i'm thinking i may take the 8.8 from my DD and put the open 8.8 back into my DD and use the 8.8 L/S for my b2. it's a lot of work though, so maybe just put the open 8.8 in my b2

the engine is almost done, everything is together, i just have to clean up the power steering bracket and rent the engine hoist and it'll be ready to go back in.

i'm about to upload pics now
 
That thing hangging off the diff. looks to be a vibration dampener.
 
if it where me, I'd remove it, just extra weight, and it could hang on something if off roading..
