1988 BII Build

harbor freight has the cheapest one i could find and it's still $700....probably a POS too.

i'd rather have a CNC laser

i think i'd wait to get a better plasma than HF, just like welder's, air compressor's, and various other big things.

yeah, i bought a POS welder from them, you can see it in some of the pics at the beginning of my build thread. it wouldnt weld shit. disciplerocks has the same one and he's actually been able to build shit with it, which amazes me. it was either too hot or too cold for me.

i've seen people use it.. but i'm used to this hobart of my dad's so..... :icon_rofl:i can't do crap with the HF one.

that doesnt look too bad, $600. i wanna buy a pistol, so that's where my next big purchase will be going.

once the wife and i buy a house, i'll be expanding my large tool collection. i just dont have room where we are now.

i've almost fixed my dumbass mistake, got a REAL drive side radius arm bracket fabbed up and welded together, just need to drill the hole in the middle.

finished up the plug welds on the arms and ground them down smooth. gonna start on a tranny x member tonight, just gotta figure out how i wanna do it. all i have is the 2x2x1/4" tubing right now and i think that's a bit overkill for a x member.

i've FINALLY started on the lift. started tearing down the front this weekend. wife is leaving for the weekend on friday, so i'm gonna install it all this weekend. gonna start friday after work and finish it on saturday. i've got my trans mount started as well, i'll just have to fine tune it once i get the arms and lift brackets on.

i have a bit of a predicament as well. i've found a 373 8.8 from a 97 EX that i can get for $200, but i have to pull it. or i have a line on some 33x12.50 BFG's for $200. cant decide what to do. it's really hard to find a good set of 33's around here for a good price. i've been checking c-list everyday for weeks looking. dont know what to do

I'd go for the tires, the rear end can be had at anytime if you go to the local Pull-A-Parts.

Robert

that's true, if i have to pull it myself, i might as well pay less for it

i just got a text from my buddy at just tires, he said he may be able to hook me up with some new tires, so maybe i'll just wait. i can run the 31's for a little with the 4 inch lift.

Dunno If you made your decision but I'd go for the tires. As I see it traction is the most important thing and it doesn't matter what lift, axles, lockers you have when your tires are crap

i think i'm leaning towards the tires. i wanna actually see if i can run 33's with a 4" lift before i spend $500-$700 on brand new tires.

tyres! i run 33x12.50s on my b2 with just 3" of lift and absolutely minimal rubbing. thats only on the very back edge of the fenders and its only offroad, not on the street.
the fact i have 1.5" spacers may have something to do with that though.

like said, axles can always be had at the pull apart. if you get a good deal on a set of tires, thats not a very common thing. not around here anyways. so jump on them before they get away!

i had a moment of genius while i was at work, well right before i left work. i never asked the axle guy if it was a LS or an open diff. it did have 373's, but it was a LS diff. i need an open diff so i can run my locker. so, tires it is for sure now. thanks for the input feller's.

i'll just run the 7.5 until i can find an open 8.8 from a 95+ EX.
