I don't claim to be smart, but I've searched with the extent of my vocabulary to no avail. . . Wondering what brand of replacement slave is recomended these days.

Truck is an 87 Ranger 4x4, with a 2.9l and FM145. Clutch on the existing (bad) engine works but was nearly worn out. If my existing slave is not leaking is it worth re-using?

Bearing may need replaced. Truck is ultimately getting a new built 2.9l with a new clutch assembly; going to a junk yard engine in the mean time to get it back on the road.

Worth note, I think that the rear main seal and/or input shaft seal is/are leaking. Don't believe the slave is but the fluid is gad knows how old.

I've heard that LUK was the Ford supplier. If true and the original lasted 30 years...

I've had the clutch and slave replaced a bout 9 months ago, It was replaced with a kit from auto zone. I am now having to add to my clutch resivore every 3 days just about 2oz. Nothing driping on ground or master. Im assuming it's leaking at the slave inside trans. Its doing the same thing as when i had it replaced. So the LUK is a good brand or do you have another recomendation? Thanks, 93 4.0 4x4 5 speed.

LUK is a good brand.

LUK has never let me down. Tho I must admit I haven't bought but a few things...

Thanks guys! I'll be getting on from Rock auto since the parts store is unknown.

I might be missing something, but I cant seem to find the accompanying hydraulic hose anywhere. Anyone know what ford called it? Or a part number?

I dont see the hose listed separate on Rock auto. It shows a Clutch Master & Slave Cylinder Assembly that has the hose.

Looking again at Rock auto I was searching my 93 4.0 5 speed. Its doesnt show the hose in the 87 2.9 kit like the 93.

I havent looked in there yet. I just ASS-U-MEd there would be one in there based on the construction style. Maybe I'm wrong and there is no hose?

I'm pretty sure the hose just needs to match the slave cylinder. I know I changed the hose on mine to use the later slave cylinder when I dad the transmission swap. I'm still using the 88 master. Be aware they are different sizes tho. I just happened to end up with a combination that works.
