I asked yesterday if anyone knew what kind of Ranger I have. I didn't have any luck online so I called around to the auto part stores and one guy told me it's a California Package (dually bed with single axle) Ford Ranger. Has anyone ever seen or heard of one of these? I got it from my dad last year after he passed away.
It's the truck in my profile picture.

I can't seem to figure out how to post pics on this site. If you would like I can shoot a couple over in an email.

That makes me wonder cuz I've seen an older Dodge Dakota that had the dually bed but didn't have dual tires.

I've seen one of those beds in a local junkyard
but when I looked at the truck I saw a normal
Gen1 rear axle under it.

IF it it had a topper like that I would have remembered it...

I believe the camper shell is an after market one that the dealership had installed. It has EXCALIBUR written on the side of it. The truck comes from VA. My dad was the second owner. The original owner bought it to drive to her beach house in NC on the weekends. It has 63,000 original miles on it. I was wanting to find information so I could get parts to have it restored.

Excalibur is (was???) an aftermarket truck top company. Back when I was working in conversion vehicles, they had a good reputation for a quality product.

I'm really glad to hear that your planning on keeping and restoring this truck. I know that it being your dad's makes it special, but it appears to also be a "regional package" truck. The best that I can gather, these were "semi official" customized trucks, sold through groups of dealers on a regional basis. Sincere good wishes on keeping it and having it restored; I think that it's an uncommon, and really neat truck.

I actually saw a ranger in a junkyard just like yours a while back,it had the exact same rear fender wells on it, i didnt see anything that said it was a special edition or anything. I remember that the emblems were ranger XLT,and it hadsome type of brush guard on the front. Not trying to say its nothing, but i just kinda thought it was odd because i had never seen a ranger with dually looking rear fenders.(it was an 80's model ranger also)
