Hello I have a 1986 5sp reg cab ranger which I'm putting back on the road. The original bench seat is trashed so I am thinking about up grading. I need seating capacity for myself and two small children so I'm thinking a 60/40 split style seat or a newer bench. Slight modification is not an issue the important thing is the length I'm limited to about 4'5" cab width. I seen a 60/40 in a 94 ranger which I like. Has any one else done a similar install. Not limiting my self to brand mazda, ford, even s-10 if seats will work. I have done a little googling and was not aware that 60/40 seat was offered in late 80's body style is this correct? Any advice is appreciated.

I have a 60/40 in my 86 extended cab. I bought it that way. Then I replaced it with one from an 89 extended cab.

If you find a set of first gen, regular cab, bucket seat brackets then you can bolt in any Ranger 60/40 made up till at least 97. With a little work to mount the tracks you can go even later than that. If you hunt around you may even find an original 60/40 in good shape. I am converting from bench to buckets in my regular cab 86, and my seat tracks came from an early 80s regular cab Ranger with a 60/40. Those seats were still in good shape too, but all I wanted was the seat tracks.

So just another question if I do find a newer 60/40 seat will the seat belt latches be the same length or will the new seat require longer latches?
