1986 2.3 fi no spark

Hello! ...truck had sat for about 2.5 years when I revived her. Gradually, a buck/miss developed which would usually occur when the engine was fully hot.

Figured it probably needed a few things, so started by swapping dist cap and rotor. Later that very day, it died and won't restart. Seemed a bit too coincidental, so I checked the rotor - it's still there and fine (and cap contacts are OK too).

Once had similar problem when the ign module went bad, and so replaced that (and the coil & coil wire, for good measure). Won't restart - have checked every way I know how, and it seems as though I have no spark (coil has good power and ground). Even went back and returned/replaced with a 2d coil (thinking maybe the first one was bad out of the box), and still nothing.

Truck died pretty much like a light switch. Any suggestions?

(BTW - this is the first time in 25 years, 335K miles it's had a genuine problem!)

...just an update.

Remember that timing belt I said I needed to change in a previous thread?

...guess what!?

Thankfully, it's a non-interference engine!

if you were messin with the disty, that could have screwed up the timing i'm pretty sure if that helps any
