I have a 1985 4X4 Ranger with the A4LD trans. & the 2.8 V6 engine . The trans. is bad . I have read the tech library & it seems the trans. code is T . From what I can understand the same exact A4LD was used from 1985 - 1994 . What I mean by being exact is that any 4X4 A4LD trans. in those year ranges would be a bolt in exchange with no modifications needed . Is this correct or not ? I have also read that the bronco 2's 2X4's used a dummy transfer case . Does that mean that a 2X4 bronco 2 trans. could be used with a 4X4 by just removing the dummy transfer case & installing the 4X4 transfer case ? Thanks in advance .

Two things you need to look out for, 3.0 bellhousing will not work for your 2.8, and you need to make shure you get an a4ld that has only 1 solenoid on the valve body, I think 91ish to 95 has 2 solenoid vb.
and for the BII trans, as long as it has a 5 bolt pattern at the tail shaft and not a slip yoke it will work.

85to 89 A4ld is the same tranny, although I can't remember about the TC lockup. I thought in 90 /91 they went with the "improved" dual solenoid and the OBD2 controls.

the bronco can be used either way, as a 2wd or swapping the T case. 5 bolts, some gasket sealer with a new gasket
