I built a new heater box for my Ranger to delete the a/c and make plenty of room for the 351 that's going in. On the old box there was this temperature controlled switch that had a temp probe coming off it and two wires. Can any of you tell me what its for and if/how I can delete it? Thanks!
I think most of the non XLT rangers came with an option of dealer installed A/C that should be the expansion valve for the A/C u can tuck it away. Please don't throw any of it away just yet! My '86 has dealer installed A/C and I am missing parts. I may very well be interested in buying some A/C parts from you.
Well my truck is an XLT and I'm pretty sure its got factory a/c. The part shown is not the expansion valve; I already removed that. I'm starting to think the po added the part pictured to stop the coil from freezing up since he severely limited the airflow across it. Unfortunately I probably don't have anything of use for you. It was all in pretty bad shape to begin with.
Many of the older Rangers had dealer installed A/C, If any of the A/C hoses had worm drive hose clamps it was dealer installed. The factory A/C used crimped on hose fittings.
