This is a 1984 Ford Ranger 2.8L 5-speed manual 4x4. Absolutly bone stock except a crappy tint job. I picked it up for $600, rebuilt the back brakes (cuz they didn't work at all) and put new seals all around the rear axle (part of the reason the brakes failed... 90W gear oil and brake pads don't mix). Now she runs like a top with 85,000 original miles on the clock. This will be my daily driver for when my 94 Ranger is under construction.

sweet,i love those kind of trucks. throw a set of wheels on it and roll! nice find!

I can't see the photo, but that is exactly what my first Ranger was (reg cab, red).

My son could not kill that truck, though he sure tried (he did NOT inherit my mechanical aptitude genes). He would literally drive it until the motor overheated and would buck so bad it would no longer run. Then, he'd hitch a ride or walk the rest of the way home. He'd go back later and drive it again, repeat. He got burned opening the radiator cap once, so he refused to refill it. He was only allowed to drive it 9 miles to hockey; it would make it there, but not back without a refill. My wife would stop when she saw it on the roadside and refill it for him.

When I came off the road, I replaced the water pump, thermostat and flushed it. It was still running fine when I traded it to our hunt club President in lieu of a year's dues ($100). It overheated when I drove it the 30 miles to him, so he replaced the (clogged up) radiator and painted Farm Use on the tailgate.

I had 30x9.5/15 mud tires on it. It climbed like a mountain goat.

Hehe, mine has the same dent in the front fender, snagged the pole that makes the garage door equivilant in my lean too shed I keep my Ranger in.

hell yea nice truck for $600. i love the Gen-I look. parts for them are easy to find so id find doors fenders hood and bed for it and paint it with huge tires on it.

You mean like this?

Nice find, especially having the 5spd. Drive it till it drops then build a dedicated trail rig out of it.....:icon_thumby:

I actually have 2 different parts trucks similar to this one, one is a running but wrecked 88 2wd 2.9l 5sp extended cab short bed, the other is a non running 86 reg cab 2wd 4 cyl auto long bed. can you believe I picked both of those up for 600 bucks as well. There is a lot of good deals out there if you just look around.
