what are the correct jets for a 1984 2.8 ranger with a motorcraft carb, duraspark conversion,no emmisions components or egr or any emmisions crap on the truck . where can i buy jets for this carb?i have 49's in it now and it seems to run fine but almost a litte rich?

From the factory, it had #50 jets in them. My dad is running #48 jets that came with his JY carb. and i think Im running #50 from my JY carb, not sure on mine though.

I got 10-12 mpg in the summer running what I have now so Im going to go to a set of smaller if I can. Im not really worrid about MPG's but to much fuel will kill what performance this engine can give.

My dads carb came of a Ford Fairmont with a 255 v-8 under the hood and mine came of an 83 cougar with a 3.8 liter. So as far as jet size, I think I can get away with going a bit smaller. But to small and she will lean out in the high rpm range.

As far as where to buy them, not sure.

some times too lean will kil part throttle performance as well. i went from #61 to #53 in my holley and i had some serious bog off idle, and when u let off the gas and hit it again. also had some highway chugging at about 50-55. messed with my idle air ratio and float and it helped some, went up to #59 jets and it helped out alot, my fuel mileage was better then with it running too lean. i need #58 but im leaving it alone for now

that really does not help me much. what i am asking is if anyone knows what jets to use in a motorcraft 2150 carb coupled to a 2.8 liter vord v6 which is a total dog even before and after dura spark conversion and motorcraft 2150 carb. (which is what is what the ranger station recomends) this 2.8 liter is a new motor with less than 20,000 miles on it and i must say it is not a performance engine in any way shape or form. Stock or dura sparked with a bigger carb, glass pack , all the enmisions components removed etc.....

#50 jets came with the factory feedback carb for the 2.8. Some guys run #48 and one guy on here says he is running #46.

I have been running #46s with no problem. What size venturi is your carb anything larger than a 1.08 and the fuel does not get atomized proper in the venturi cluster. The venturi size is stamped in the circle on the accelerator linkage side of the float bowl. Turn the idle air screws out 3 1/2 turns from the lightly seated position. Disconnect the vacuum advance and time it at 10 DBTDC. lock it down and hook the advance up to manifold vacuum. Adjust the idle to around 800 rpm then adjust the idle air for the highest rpm possible and then check they are within 1/2 a turn between them counting the turns in then back out. I found the idle air screws are between 3 and 4 turns out and they supplement the main jets on the upper end the 2.8 runs best a little rich on the idle air. With the engine at an idle and the advance connected you should be around 20 degrees on the timing. If you have a vacuum guage adjust the idle air for the highest vacuum pressure. Mine is at 18 hg at an idle anything lower than 17 is a possible vacuum leak. If you dont know how old the PCV is change it and every time you change plugs. Thats how mine runs best for two years now. I dont have to warm it up just start and go and dont mess with the choke until you get the carb dialed in then you can adjust the high idle when the engine is cold. when it is froze out I need to warm it up first either that or ride the park brake until it idles down. GL

Oh yea adjust the choke fully open is what I meant to say until you get it dialed in.
