My son and I are rebuilding a 84 Ranger.
I am having a heck of a time locating a EGR valve. Ford .. Discontenued... NAPA no luck and we checked a lot of out lets and numbers. Its the valve that mounts on an adapter under the carb. It has two vacuum lines on it and a big Female port. Does any one have a part number or something I can use. I could also use a picture of the set up.
Thanks
tim

I guess it depends on what intake you have, what carb you are running on it, and whether the part is on the truck now or if you are simply looking for what should be there...

On my 1988 2.0 it had an EGR mounted on the base of the carb...it only had one vacuum line to it (from what I recall) and the female port that I think you are describing would be the return from the exhaust manifold (around the back of the engine to the intake manifold just below the carb).

I still have mine on and can take pics if you like, but not sure if it would do you any good since it sounds the same but is slightly different.

I posted pics of my carb a while ago and think they are still in my profile...

EDIT: I just uploaded an image of the engine bay showing the top of the EGR valve...it has a part number E03 on it and some other markings (you can't see it in this pic but I have one showing more) that are nearly illegible...

It only has one vac line and I am actually running an intake from a 78 Mustang II with the Motorcraft 5200 2 bbl carb...but the EGR may be similar

I will generally not encourage tampering or removal of emissions control devices. In this case block the ports, make the valve look like it works, and call it a day.

The carb 2.3 was originally designed to run without EGR, it was an addition forced by the government. The engine will run better without it.

I would get rid of it if you do not have to have it because of emission laws. You can buy it at http://www.lmctruck.com it cost $99.

totally agree mine runs great without it.

We are just wanting to get it back to stock after a rebuild and we do have emission testing.. I don't think the motor is orginal I need to check the date code on the motor.. The code on the valve is E3 which would be an 83 part.
Something that has me puzzled the tag on the radator core suport that shows the vacuum lines and emission stuff was stamped VOID all over it .. but when we had the motor bay cleaned they balsted the sticker off. Any idea what that means??
thanks
