1983 ranger rear axle

I cannot find the axle code for my 83 2wd ranger. I would like to know my options I painted over the door sticker and the tag on the cover is missing. I am leaning toward a 8.8 3.55 ratio. I put 15 inch wheels on a couple years ago. Does anyone in the Seattle area have one looking for a home I plan on going completly through it. Any advice is appreciated for this old work horse when searching autozone all they show is a 8.8 3.55 ring and pinion would that just A bolt in replacement. I know little to none normally I just get one at the bone yard plug and play but I just went through my C-3 auto tranny and want to give a hand at rebuilding a rear end while still driving the truck.

You of all people here I would have thought you would have found this.

I ring and pinion change is not just a bolt in replasement. You need special tools to set them up.
