18yrs old first project

i have noticed power loss lol but i have major vacuum leak issues that i havent got to fixing yet since i got a new dd like the day after the swap, im not 100% sure if i even will fix it because im getting tired of a 3.0, might just put the old intake back on and leave it till i get my hands on a 5.0 litre:headbang:

Don't go 5.0 IMHO. 4.0 is lighter, makes not a whole pile less power, and is easier of fuel...

well i got a whole lotta time to decide engine swap realistically wouldnt even start till next winter

got a little done towards the center console, i'm broke so i just used some scrap plywood i had and i cut the side peices, i can't do to much at the moment because i dont have any of the components yet that i plan on putting in so im not sure how it will all go together, i also wanted to have a handbrake since im a ricer but it can't interfere with the shifter so i need to plan everything out a little more. when its done though it should have space to hold 3 gauges 2 tweeters, a hand brake, space lefter for the shifter, a concealed power inverted with 2 120v plug ins and maybe a little bit of storage space.

onto the pictures

my calipers which i already got dirty.

you like it? lol

Haha, ballin' camperette!

got some more accomplished on the center console, i might do a little more tonight but im just slowly chipping away at it trying to take my time so it'll come out exactly how i want.

i got a handbrake from the junkyard, painted it and got it bolted in.

and got started on a storage compartment to hide things in.

storage compartment nearly finished, the power inverter doesnt quite fit yet but you get the idea

and i cut a bunch of thing strips of ply to make my foundation for the curves in the top peice

Man, you're just steaming along on this project!! Keep up the good work and don't cut corners.

Is the hand brake functional?

the brake cable isnt hooked up yet but it will be functional and ill be taking the foot e brake out, I always thought it would be cool to have a handbrake in a street truck

You'll have to take pictures and stuff on how to route the handbrake cable. Maybe do a write up on it if there isn't one already.

got some more done today since work got cancelled,

painted the compartment a little bit and sanded out the space for the power inverter untill it fit like a glove.

glued all the peices together to form the top sheet, the hand brake will definatly be in the way when i swap the 5 speed in but that wont be till next winter so for now ill just leave it as is, this ones handle curves to the right so maybe ill look for one that will curve to the left away from the shifter.

i layed down a little bit of bondo glass just to help holf the shape of the top sheet so i can take it off and get in all the tight spots

sanded off most of the first layer of glass it was really thick and uneven and clear that i spent about 5 seconds laying it on, i did a second smoother coat and sanded off some off the high spots when it was semi dry

all sanded fairly smooth with 50 and 80 grit, there are a couple little pit i didnt sand out but im going to go over it with regular body filler now for a final coat

its definatly way to cold to do any painting so i wont be able to get it done till it warms up but atleast ill have lots of time and it will be no rush preping the console a rollpan my hood and pretty much the rest of the truck for a final paintjob

looks good, i really like the built in power inverter too. i hear you about the cold, it feels like my motivation is burried under 6ft of snow!

lol ya i doubt i will work on anything that actually envolves going out to the truck, its hard enough to convince my self to go into the garage and work
