18yrs old first project

are you still looking for an escape throttle body? there's one in the local pull a part yard but it was in a fire. I don't think the engine got toasted so its probably good. I can check if they have it if you need it still.

i do body work and i must say, you really got a nack for it!

looking good, hope the mirrors are brand new, I have the same ones and they are starting to wear out, if I go over 100kmh they tend to fold in from the wind.

no hey are from pick and pull and the passenger side folds in a around 80 k but it does the job for now.

how hard were your valve covers to get off?

mine took me FOREVERRRR...
but we have different engine sizes and generations.

i had to pull my a/c compressor and unbolt the alternator as well
and unplug about 15 wires/vacuums

i wish i would have had the time to paint mine when i was taking them off, i sure as hell no i will not take them off anytime soon again!!

mine were actually really easy to get off, only really needed to take off the upper intake. i spent probably 2 hours cleaning them though, i think it was the first time they had been cleaned since 92.

thanks for all the comments and advice! stoked that everyone likes it.

next on the list is tiniting the windows and finishing paint, hopefully finishing my intake if i can find a tb, i have a 3/4 inch drop kit on the way. and maybe trying to make a roll pan if i can find the time

SWEET WOORK MAN looks clean im 18 to nooooo that means i have compaition nooooo lol=]

I like it so far, doing great work.

I could never find the time for all that, I have the ability but not the time...... I just work more hours and have it done for me (sounds crappy I know, lol)

I'd love to see more updates.

Frank

I was very happy with how it looked so I pulled the old sliding window off my truck. unfortunatly i had to rip the fabric off my sub box and take the box apart to get them out.

i went on to pull out the side windows tint and paint the next day. and i also finished off painting most of the bed.

my lowering kit also arrived. im hoping to try and finish up the painting this weekend and then when i have a full day i will pull off the bed to do the shackle flip and paint in between the cab and bed.

I also finally found a throttle body so i can get back to doing some engine work soon. thank god :P i never want to touch a peice of sandpaper again in my life.

lookin good man, you definately got skills for only being 18. i like how much youve cleaned it up, inside and out. having a REAL oil pressure gauge is sweet too, i never knew how much the pressure actually fluctuated until i installed mine.

woot more updates, i took alot of pictures too but i can't find the cord for my camera so it will probably be a couple days before they are up.

I might have to change the name of the title because first off i turned 19 a couple days ago:headbang::icon_cheers:

beleive it or not but i actually did most of the work on my truck the day after :icon_twisted: im a trooper lol.

I got a new deck for starters not sure of the exact model but its a pioneer premeire and it makes a huge difference having a deck with a high pass filter!!

next thing i went ahead and got some fancy new floor matts and now for the big stuff.

Base Paint is done! for now... i still am going to wet sand the entire thing do one more thicker even coat and clear the whole thing but im tired of paint so it will probably stay as is for a little while. I managed to pull off the bed and get the back of the cab painted aswell which brings me to the next thing i got done....

It is now lowered, i went with 3 inch drop coils up front and shackle flip in the rear with drop shocks all the way around. The ride is definately quite a bit rougher but sooooo worth the pay off!!! I can't beleive how it handles now i can take corners at probably double the speed i used too :P. I really like the stance to, i wouldn't mind the back being maybe an inch lower but i'm still super pleased. I parked it next to my dads altima and they are about the same height.

Up next is the intake setup now that i have the throttle body as well as cleaning up a couple little things like the wheels i was wanting to hit with some sand paper and a clear coat, and then the next 2 bigger projects will be making an exhaust system and since my hood worked out pretty well i was going to try and make a steel roll pan.

another idea has been venturing into my head but i have no idea how difficult it would be so im not sure whether to take it on or not. i was thinking i wanted to make a custom fiberglass center console since i hate the stock one and i wouldn't mind another place to house some more gauges. i have never glassed before so im a little clueless as to where i would even start and i have heard some people use would and some use foam to get their shape. what would you suggest for a pretty ambitious first timer?? :P

thanks, ill post up pics asap

sweet job!!! I agree with you not wanting to see another piece of sand paper ever, but hey your truck is looking great so the effort pays off. No clue on fiberglass either, but it would look sick with some gauges and stuff in there.

I'm 20 and doing an engine swap and improvements to my gen 1 ranger. But work on it will pick up as soon as parts arive and people quit asking for my help on other stuff they want done for them. Plus need to get my engine hoist back!!!!! Mine needs alot of body work.

Your truck is looking great like the grill on the front and the interior looks better then mine ever will. Keep up the good work.

truck is lookin great bro. I love the general look you are going for. you gonna do some wheels and tires? maybe some 18's? ALWAYS best to get the expensive stuff out of the way while you are living at home and not paying as much out on bills. my project came to somewhat of a standstill as i started pullin 40-50 hour work weeks, payin bills, and doin yard work. Luckily, i had my lift and stuff done already.

truck looks good man ...me being 19 and in the process of painting my truck i know what you mean by NO MORE SANDING lol
