I got these 17 x 7.5 explorer wheels for my 96 2wd ranger. My problem is the front hub dust cover hits the center cap.

I think some 5/16" spacers will solve it. But I'm sure that would require longer wheel stud's. How would I go about getting 1/2" longer studs and does that cost $40+ per hub just for the studs?

These lug nuts might work with the stock studs

Maybe I should just leave the center caps off and paint the dust caps black?

Thoughts?

With my '94 and 16" mustang Cobra wheels, I encountered the same thing.

I used 5mm spacers and the E.T. lug nuts.

Zero problems.

I'm not a big fan of wheel spacers. I would pull a dust cap off and see if the wheel center cap will go over the spindle. You can even grind some metal off the end of the spindle because there is enough extra metal on the end of the spindle before you even get to the treads on the spindle. It won't hurt ant thing and you won't have the grind much by the looks of it. Then you can reinstall the dust cap and hammer it flat over the the spindle. Another option in trying different wheel center caps. 05 and up Mustang 3 bar spinners with the Ford oval would look good if they are the correct diameter. They are deeper so the should fit over the dust caps. They just snap into the wheels like the Explorer caps you have. Here are the caps I'm talking about on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/set-of-4-05...Parts_Accessories&hash=item35e07d60bb&vxp=mtr
