A guy at work is willing to give me a good deal on some 31-10.50-15's,the problem is my 2000 Ranger has 16 in stock wheels, the 265-70-16's that are on it are about 30 in tall and this dude says that changing to 15's wont hurt anything,he'll even throw in some rims for cheap but they are off of a Jeep Wrangler and he said they will fit right on,anybody know if this will work or is this guy yanking my chain,I dont want to pass up a good deal if I dont have to

hmm changing tire size will through off your speedometer or course, but jeep rims to ford? you might wanna check to make sure everything lines up. while some 5 lug rims will line right up some wont. i have heard stories that without getting some adjustments it could do some damage to your tranny and axles but i think that might not be true

Most 15's will fit. Jeep wheels will physically bolt up but the offset is different (more backspace), so besides looking silly, a 31x10.50 will likely rub on the inside.
Either get some Ranger or Explorer 15x7's or aftermarket wheels. If cost is an issue, steel black spokes don't cost a lot. 15x8, 3.75" backspace.

The only thing that affects the speedometer is the overall diameter of the tire and a 31" isn't enough to make much difference.

Glad someone directed me to this site as this might be the info I was looking for. I have an 07 Mazda with 16" rims and was wondering if the Ranger's 15" rims will bolt right up. If they do, I think I'll have a look at the local wreckers for a set :icon_thumby:

what kind of tires?

unless you need tires........ why you want to go through the trouble of getting another set of wheels to gain 1/2" clearance?

now in my case I want some 6 lug 16" wheels because I am scrapping my suburban and the tires on it are still 90% tread, plus I hate the BajaClaws on my LandCruiser....... they are the worst performing tire I have ever had.... all they do is look cool
