I'm having some trouble finding any decent P225/70/R14 tires for my '94 Ranger XLT 2wd, 4cyl, 5spd. What other sizes can I go with? Any 15's work? Thanks,Scott

Well I am running 235/75/R15's under my truck and they rub at full lock or when I'm reversing and I turn the wheel almost to full lock.
<-Not those wheels

I had 14" on my 95 b3000 and it was always hard to find decent tires in 14" I'd suggest switching to a 15 but not running too wide a tire.

I run on a set of aluminum Bronco rims with 205/75/15 tires...I find they ride better than 14's...and they don't affect the speedo that much unless you go with 225 or 235 tires...when I had a set of 225's on the back the speedo was out by about 8 Km/hr...over~

Hi Memphis, I'm also New Here( first post) I brought my Ranger home on the 3rd Dec I see here you posted on the 9th. I decided to join as this is a very useful site.
My 98 model had 14's which were grey and very scraped up. I found some 15 inch chrome XLT factory ones at salvage yard put used 235/70r15 on and didn't work so well. Fuel usage went from 23 down to like 18, hard to take off speedo off , so Got new ones today 205/70R15 that are close to factory diameter My Rear is 3.73.
I use the tech library here it has a calculator you can enter to stay close to your designed diam with bigger wheel.

I put Kelly Explorers on my Ranger last Saturday. 205/70R15 riding on American Racing Outlaw IIs. They ride OK. The speedometer is close to actual speed.

I'm finding that good used tires are impossible to find. I may have to run my 'slicks' this Winter and just be careful! :shok:
How do I know what rim to go with what tire? I may have to look at other tire/rim combos.........

Yes the 225/70R14 is getting very hard to find. If your gonna switch to a 15-inch tire, the 205/70R15 is very close to the same overall diameter you have now. The other option that also super close is the 215/65R15.

Or you can do what I did, switch to a 16-inch tire and use a 225/60R16.

I just found two used ones in town. They are 215/75R14. Hopefully they'll work. Going to check on them tonight.

Sams club, walmart, Discount tires.com...... they have 225 70 R14's
A lot of places on line do. Tires plus etc etc etc....

Would any of those fit on my current rims?

The last two digits are the size of the rims in inches. If you have 14 inch rims, only 14 inch tires will fit. My stock tire size on my 1996 Mazda B3000 4x2 is 225/70-14. 27x8.5-14 BFG AT T/A KO are close to stock, but with less load capacity (95 vs. stock 98)....so don't load the bed to the max and increase the tire pressure to at least 38 psi (stock is 35 psi). Have used studded 205/75-14 winter tires too.
