so does a 1356 on a c6 trans not fit in a ranger? or do you just have to mount the tcase so it faces further down then normal? mine hits the frame rail when i try to put it in and the trans is where it is supposed to be.

I have no personal experience, but I have heard of people modifying the mounts to shift the tcase over, maybe this can be an option for you:dunno:

Hmm, lets' see: notch the framerail for Xcase clearance, nope, STILL won't fit. Okay, try shoving the tranny over so that the 1356 clears the framerail. Lovely, NOW the motor is twisted so bad to the drivers' headlight that my 4 year old daughter wants to now why the truck is broken. F' it. MAKE the 1356 into a doubler, with a divorce mount Xcase. THAT works, quite nicely, too. Oh, and this is with a 331, T18 in a Supercab box nose.

i would pick another t case theres no way thats fiting maybe find a dana 20

Mid to late 70's F series trucks had the 205, 78-79 bronco I believe had em as well...Yes the 205 will bol up to your C6

Yeah, the 205 would be easier to fit, find, and easy to re-seal, if needed. IF you could find one, the NP 208 from the early 80s' trucks would also be an excellent choice. On that one, you have to trim down one tab, and it is fairly obvious which one when you hold it under the truck.

i found a guy with a dana 20 around me, he said its on a c4 but he also said he didnt think the output shaft was the same from c4 to c6. does the dana20 bolt right up or no?

NO. The C4 has it's own pattern for the D20. Now, if you can get the C4, along with the D20, well now.... Oh, and if you do this, GET THE SHIFTER for the D20, as they can be hard to find, plus there are 2 types.

The really annoying thing is the Dana20 used on the manual trans
in the shoebox bronco... the input gear of the Dana20 is actually
a part of the transmission!

An NP208 is also a bulky S.O.B. though not as bad as say... a 14-45...

The NP205 is cast iron and it's compact because it doesn't need
internal clearance for a chain

Though many complain about it's ~2.0:1 low range, I think the lack of a
wear/breakage prone chain and the fact that the T-case was DESIGNED
to stand up to a 351M/400/429 V8 engine...

I doubt there is any engine you could fit into a ranger that would break one.

The NP205 is also child's play to convert to "Twin stick"
