1354 speedo drive gear

Here are some pictures of what we are looking at. This is from the back end of a 2wd M5OD I am tearing apart, but it is the same as the t-case gear, and the shaft setup is very similar. The big difference is the t-case just uses the rear flange to hold the gear in place longitudinally, rather than the snap ring in this setup.

Thanks again A!

It would be very cool to discover that there actually is a little indent on the shaft where the bearing would hold the gear in place. This would translate to mean a newer transfer case just needing the speedo hole drilled out for the mechanical speed sensor and, a small bolt to hold it in. I'm so tempted to tear into the 98 T case I have but it has to wait my truck is up on jack stands we're looking for that shake&wobble in the back end.

I wish I could deal with a simple street-ability issue.

I am tearing this trans down to steal the speed gears to drop the ones in my Ranger, and in the first pic you can see the C4 that has no R (maybe, I might have it fixed, but I am waiting on a new pump gasket), and in the upper left you can just see the Pontica 400 block that a former co-worker managed to screw me on big time.

the tcase I pulled from a 99 does not have the spring, or ball, or hole to put them in.
