Me and my dad have plans to drive across Oregon on dirt. This seems like the way to do it, hopefully next summer

Are you talking the oregon back country discoverey route? I've been wanting to do that for years, hit me up for sure if you do that.

Honestly i think we will just make our own route driving as much dirt as possible, i will call you up for sure though.

I repacked my wheel bearings today, then went an took a few pics of my truck.


Also I met a local guy recently who is building a 1450 truck. He sent me some pics of SS Fab D44 swap brackets for rangers, they look pretty rad. He is running them on his race truck.

I was looking at their site, there route looks really rad. However it would be (if I understand the site correctly) like $80 worth of maps for the long trail.

At that price I have the time to map it out myself from now till then

I finally hooked up a front axle breather tube, and ran it into the engine compartment. Then I wired my alternator onto a switch, FINALLY. I have a temporary mini switch panel I threw together ziptied to the tube between the seats. But I should be building a center consol soon and will mount it on that.

Also I stopped by the shop tonight and they are dropping the 8.8 outta the jeep monday. So if all goes to plan that I should get it next week assuming it has the right gears and a good locker.

Why not go with a disk brake rear end? I thought all the drum brake ones are 28 spline?

If they came in rangers they are 28 splines with few exceptions. This one you can tell came from an 91-94 explorer since its spring under.

I see always assumed explorer drums brake rears were 28 spline like rangers. Proceed.

Ya, its 31 spline 8.8 from an explorer. Why drums? They didn't have a disc one, and I'm not entirely convinced I wouldn't have to change out my MC

I didn't and it works perfectly. Since your sticking to a d35 what size tires are you going to run now.

Well, drums will work fine for me. I might be getting some 33's here pretty soon. Or it might end up on 35's we will see.

I just ordered new bushings for the explorer leafs i pulled from the yard this morning. I also got a new pinion seal and ordered axle seals for the 8.8. ill upload pics when im home, cant really do it from

I got my pinion seal and axles seals. I also ordered new drums for the axle, they will get here tomorrow. I started stripping down the axle today too. Got the brake lines off, cut off the sway bar mounts, and cleaned it up pretty good. Then I welded the axle tubes up too.
I got tired of sparks to the face so I bought a mask, and also got a seal puller for getting the old seals out.

All I can say is that these carharts started the day tan....
